BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE SAID...

...right in the face.

THE BAND - WHO WE ARE

Katastrophal Klang is musical evolution's answer to a lack of controversy and adrenaline. They play a mix of alternative and college dizz punk that is as subtle as a sledgehammer. The band stands out with a changeable style that could be understood as musical punches in the face of society. The singing is rough and the voice is often so alienated that you would think the singer had different personalities and voices. Their lyrics are not only provocative, but apolitical and universal.
Katastrophal Klang is an art experiment - except for the lyrics, everything (as far as possible) is generated with AI.

Our first album

Where can you find your music?

Where can I hear you?

You can simply stream us. We don't sell our music. We believe in music anarchy without commercial considerations.
We also don't believe in classic production forms and formats. Our music cannot be forced into traditional and outdated structures such as "albums", "concerts", "tours", etc. We make songs, events and happenings. We ARE the SHIRT event. Right?! If something actually comes out on Spotify, Deezer or somewhere else, we would donate the profits.
So: If our music existed as an album, this would NOT be our cover. The name of our first album would be "Because nobody else says..." and the title of the second album would be "Children, children..."

Album cover of our album "Because nobody else says it..."

Our first album -
"Because nobody else says so..."

The album "Weil's sonst ja keiner sagt" embodies the central message of our band: addressing uncomfortable truths and expressing honest, raw emotions that often remain unsaid. It is a call for more openness and authentic exchange, packaged in a powerful mix of punk and rock.

About "I have to tell you something"

'I Need to Tell You Something' was born out of a real need to get out all the unspoken stuff that weighs on our minds every day. It's about the things that we usually swallow or hide behind a nice facade. In the song I put together all the things that frustrate me and probably a lot of other people out there - all the little lies, the social games we all play just to be polite. It's an outlet, you know? A cathartic scream. We wanted to put out something real that would make people think, but also pick them up somewhere and say, 'Hey, I feel you, I've been through this too.' Sometimes you just have to tell the truth, as raw and direct as it may be. That's the essence of punk, isn't it? Honesty, even when it hurts.

Parmesan Käse
About "Do you always put so little cheese on it?"

'Do you always put so little cheese on it?' - that sounds like a fun, maybe even banal question, but there's a lot more to it than that. It's a metaphor, man. It's about how often we only get or give the minimum in life. Whether it's the cheese on our sandwiches or the passion in our relationships and our jobs. The song takes a cynical look at how we often fall short of our potential, settling for less. It's a call not to simply accept what's put in front of us, but to demand more - more commitment, more intensity, more life. We at Katastrophal Klang are not here to settle for 'enough'. We want the maximum! And this song? It's meant to wake people up a bit, to make them strive for more. Not just in cheese, but in everything they do.

Rock-Konzert
About "Did you bathe too hot as a child?"

'Als Kind zu Heiß gebadet' is one of those songs that comes straight from the deepest corner of our rebellious souls. The title may sound funny, but it's a sharp reference to those people who are somehow not quite right - those who always step out of line, but not in a good way. It's an ironic comment on those who behave strangely and make decisions that don't make sense. We wrote this song to address the issue of societal conformity. It's about how society expects everyone to be the same and normal, but what is normal? In this song we celebrate being different, deviating from the norm, even if it irritates others or they don't understand it. The song is a kind of love letter to everyone who has never let themselves be pushed into pre-made boxes. It's loud, it's weird, and it's damn honest. That's us, that's Katastrophal Klang.

Konzert Live-Publikum
About "I like to complain"

'Ich mecker gerne mal rum', this song, is our way of holding up a mirror. It's about how absurd it is that some people have to complain about everything without ever changing anything or even making a constructive contribution. It's almost satirical how we take the constant moaning and ridicule it. We all know someone who constantly moans, right? The song takes that energy and turns it up to eleven. Instead of moaning, we turn it into something loud, something energetic. It's like an outlet for all the frustration that builds up when you're constantly hearing moaning. And let's be honest, it feels good to let off some steam every now and then, doesn't it? In this song we do just that - but in a way that rocks and makes people think. Why moan when you can rock instead?

Die Menschenmenge in einer Partynacht in Aufruhr
About "Did you fall off the changing table?"

'Have you fallen off the changing table?' is a song that surprises you at first hearing with its musical softness. That was a conscious decision. We wanted this stark contrast between what the lyrics say - they are pretty direct and ruthless - and the softer music. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Musically, we're taking a step back, letting the melodies flow and seem almost gentle. But the words? They're razor sharp.

The thing about it is how that contrast reinforces the message. It draws people in, lets them approach it with a certain lightness and then - bam! - the lyrics hit them. It's a technique that gets people listening because they're not put off by the harshness from the start. That's the art of it. You lure them in with the melody and hold them with the words.

We wrote this song to start a discussion, to make people think about the way some people just stumble through life without really thinking or reflecting. And the musical softness? It makes the hard hit of the lyrics even more surprising. It's a song that shows that we as a band are versatile and don't just fit into one category.

Album cover of our album "Children, Children...."

Our second album -
"Children, children..."

For the second album "Kinder, Kinder..." the management ("van der Streuz") put pressure on the band. It was commercial pressure that forced the band to create an entire album from what was actually just one song ("Ich will noch nicht zuhause")... But the band is not playing along. The band is not a lemon that can be squeezed in the fist of commerce. That's why the album only has three tracks. There will be more songs by the band, but they won't be driven by the management's mainstream thinking.

Mädchen liegend
About "I don't want to sleep yet"

"I don't want to sleep yet" is a song written from the perspective of a rebellious spirit that refuses to succumb to the pressures of everyday life and routines. It's about living life to the fullest and savoring every moment, even when the world says it's time to settle down.

In this song we build a bridge between childlike carefreeness and the adult longing for freedom. The lyrics reflect the inner struggle between the need to take responsibility and the deep desire to just carry on, to keep playing, laughing and living, without being limited by the clock or by societal expectations.

Musically, "Ich will noch nicht zuhause" brings our typical energy with a touch of melancholy, characterized by the use of dynamic guitar riffs and driving drums. It's a song that will sweep you away and maybe make you think a little.

We hope that you identify with this song as much as we do. It is a call to swim against the tide sometimes and not to just say "goodnight" when you are not ready to end the day. Celebrate with us the nights when we just don't want to sleep!

Dumming
About "When someone does something stupid"

The song takes up an everyday scene - a situation that we all know: someone does something obviously stupid. Instead of beating around the bush or remaining politely silent, "Wenn einer was Dummes macht" breaks the taboo and calls for people to call things by their name. In this day and age, when the truth is often obscured in favor of politeness or political correctness, it is a refreshing move to simply say: "That was stupid."

The song is meant to encourage people to be authentic and not to hide behind facades. It's not about hurting people, but about honesty in a world that is often too superficial. We've spiced this track with a good dose of humor and irony so that it's thought-provoking but also fun.

Musically, we went for a powerful mix of heavy guitar riffs and a driving beat to underline the directness and urgency of the lyrics. It's one of those songs that you want to turn up loud and scream along to, especially when you're feeling frustrated.

We hope that "When someone does something stupid" inspires you to live your life more honestly and to dare to call things as they are - without losing respect for others, of course. Let us all be a little braver in what we say and do.

Kinder spielen Duplo
About "I want to play"

"I Want to Play" is an anthem to the carefreeness we all experienced as children and often miss as adults. The song reminds us that it's okay to step away from daily responsibilities every now and then and just do what we enjoy. It's about keeping the inner child alive and looking at the world with a playful eye.

The inspiration for this song came one afternoon as I was watching some children on the playground. Despite the simple joys they were having, it seemed that their parents were too busy to truly appreciate the moment. This got me thinking about our priorities and how often we neglect play and the joy of it in our own lives.

Musically, we wanted to create something light and carefree with "I want to play" that reflects the informality and joy of playing. With lively guitar riffs and a catchy beat, the song is designed in such a way that you can't help but feel along and let yourself be carried away by the music.

We hope this song inspires you to make time to play more often, in whatever form that works for you. Let go, have fun, and remember that life is too short not to just play every now and then.

Album cover of our album "Really?!"

Our third album -
"Really now?!"

Discover "Echt jetzt", a dynamic project by Katastrophal Klang that was much more than just an album. It represented an ongoing journey that evolved and deepened with the release of each new track. With songs like "Wahrheit", which encourage you to question superficial facades, or "Bedingungsloses Grundgehirn für Alle", a humorous critique of social misunderstandings, this album offers an honest and profound reflection of modern society. "Echt jetzt" was a living work of art that grew and changed - up until the time when the band was able to release their songs on Spotify, Deezer and YouTube Music... The album ended abruptly with this success. The end of the journey? Probably not...

About "Unconditional Basic Brain for All"

"Unconditional Basic Brain for All" is our playful answer to the everyday misunderstandings and conflicts that we observe in our society. With a mixture of sharp wit and energetic music, we question what could happen if everyone had a little more sense. It is an invitation to think outside the box and to critically reflect on your own opinion. "Unconditional Basic Brain for All" is not just a song, it is a wake-up call to actively participate in improving our collective understanding. Listen in and be inspired to see the world a little differently!

Höhle

About "That would be Stone Age again"

Our song "That would be back in the Stone Age" is a powerful reminder that differences of opinion should never be an excuse for violence. In this track we address the importance of peaceful dialogue in our society. We live in a democracy and that means that everyone has the right to freely express their opinion without fear of physical retaliation.

The song appeals to the awareness that violence is a throwback to primitive times and that we, as a modern society, need to find better ways to deal with our differences. It is a call to go beyond our own prejudices and instincts and resolve conflicts with respect and understanding.

Kinder spielen Duplo
About "Recently in the Sandbox"

Our song "Neulich im Sandkasten" takes you on a journey back to the carefree but often chaotic world of children's playgrounds. This track is not only a funny look back at childlike freedom and the little dramas under the sun, but also takes a humorous look at the parallels between children's playgrounds and adult life, especially in the age of social media.

With a mix of light melodies and catchy lyrics, the song highlights the quirky struggles and innocent wisdom that children often unintentionally demonstrate, while also highlighting how similar scenarios play out in our "grown-up" world, only the sand molds are replaced by tweets and the shovels by sharp commentary.

Nelke
About "Father's Day"

In "Father's Day" we first describe the classic image: men hiking together, drinking and spending the day among themselves. But then we ask the question that is really close to our hearts: Why are there no women there? We question whether the traditional role models and the exclusivity of this day are really still up to date.

The song calls for rethinking traditions and making celebrations more inclusive, suggesting that perhaps everyone should celebrate Father's Day, regardless of gender, and stresses the importance of equality and communal fun.

“Father's Day” is more than just a song for us; it is a call to question old habits and redefine what it means to celebrate this day. We hope it makes you think as much as it did us. Let's create new traditions together that welcome everyone.

Heiligtum der Wahrheit
About "Truth"

In our profound song "Truth" we deal with the veiled realities of our time and challenge you to critically question the apparent truth. "Truth" is a musical exploration of what is real and what is just a facade. The song takes a sharp look at the flood of information that surrounds us every day and encourages every listener to think beyond the surface and broaden their own perspective. We hope that this song serves as an impetus not to simply accept things, but to actively search for depth and authenticity.

Freiwillige
About "I'll help you"

With our latest track "Ich helf dir" we delve deep into the ironic and funny world of know-it-alls. Everyone knows that one friend or colleague who always knows exactly how to do everything better, right? In "Ich helf dir" we take up this everyday experience and package it in our typical Katastrophal Klang sound.

The song plays with the idea of unsolicited advice and the frustration that comes with it, but also offers a tongue-in-cheek look at how such situations can sometimes actually be helpful. It's a mix of mockery and a small dose of appreciation for the well-intentioned, if sometimes annoying, interventions.

Hände hoch

About "Your Opinion"

Our song "Your Opinion" delves deep into the heated discussions of our time and questions how we communicate with each other. In a world where volume often wins over content, this song calls us to lay down the weapons of words and really listen.

The song deals with the problems of modern communication, where facts and opinions are mixed and discussions can quickly become heated and unproductive. "Your Opinion" is a sharp but humorous criticism of the way in which arguments are often made - without listening, without understanding, with the sole aim of asserting one's own point of view.

Chefkoch hackt Gemüse
About "I wonder"

In our song "I wonder" we deal with the changes in our society that are making everyday knowledge and common sense increasingly rare. The song reflects the irony of modern life, in which simple facts such as washing hands with soap are celebrated as "life hacks" and science seems to be lost in a sea of opinions.

"I wonder" is a critical reflection on the information age, in which the volume of a statement often counts more than its truthfulness. With a powerful chorus that expresses the resignation in society, the song calls on people not to stop wondering and to question things critically. It is a call to remain vigilant and not to be overwhelmed by the flood of disinformation.

Auf ein Bier

About "Großer Stammtisch"

In our latest song "Großer Stammtisch" (Great Stammtisch), Katastrophal Klang examines the dynamics of today's online discussion culture. The track paints an astute picture of how the internet provides platforms where previously isolated voices unite into a loud, sometimes chaotic mass. Inspired by the idea of a traditional Stammtisch in a village pub, where the "village idiot" could voice his opinions, the song shows how the internet has taken this concept to a global level. Now that anyone with an opinion can find an audience, no matter how extreme or unfounded it may be, the Stammtisch has expanded, increasing the potential for misinformation and more extreme views.

About "I don't know you anymore"

Released as part of our dynamic creative process, Katastrophal Klang's single "Ich kenn dich nich mehr" marks a profound moment in our musical journey. This song addresses the dark side of fame and how quickly interpersonal relationships can change when success comes into play. With a powerful mix of sharp lyrics and driving melodies, the track highlights the isolation and alienation that often comes with public recognition.

The story behind the song is based on the ironic observation that despite increased connectivity through social media, true human connection seems to be eroding. "Ich kenn dich nich mehr" quickly became a fan favorite and exemplifies our commitment to exploring authentic and resonant themes in our music. Through this song, we invite our listeners to reflect on the true price of fame and success and what it truly means to know yourself and others in such a context.
